Following several requests from individual clients we are now able to offer a testing and inspection service for fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
This service is primarily aimed at Houses In Multiple Occupation (HMO's) in the Morecambe area.
A key area in any health and safety management system is the routine testing of the essential safety systems such as fire alarms and emergency lighting. In shops and offices this can be done by on-site staff with relative ease. The situation with HMO's is different in that in most instances there are no staff on the premises on a day to day basis and the testing is reliant on the owner or a managing agent. In many cases the testing is not done and the responsible person, generally the owner, but in some cases the managing agent, are leaving themselves vulnerable to prosecution for failing to maintain essential services.
Our service includes:-
A weekly* test of the main fire alarm system by operating a fire alarm call point |
A monthly test of the communal area emergency lighting system – this will consist of simulating a failure of the mains supply and checking that all luminaires are illuminated. |
A monthly visual inspection of the communal areas. |
* Weekly is the frequency recommended in the current British Standard, but this can be altered if you wish.
We will keep all the necessary records and will provide a report to you on a regular basis and inform you of any faults as soon as possible.
Our service does not include entering any private areas or repairing any faults found and does not include the 6-monthly servicing of the fire alarm system or the annual servicing of the emergency lighting system which should be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician.
